Abstract

This episode is about wedding in Jordan, especially in Er Ramta in the southern region. Wedding ceremonies vary from region to region. In Ramta everyone is involved in the feast. Men perform traditional dances, tapping feet on the ground on tunes and traditional songs inherited from ancestors. Women dance on the rhythm of a drum and a flute called 'madjou'z and they are sometimes involved in dances with men. While the men have coffee, some women help the bride to get ready while the others continue to dance. There is also a presentation ceremony of the groom's presents : clothes, jewelry and furniture. The ceremony lasts three days, including the night of henna, tradition still alive in the north.
