Abstract

A documentary film about the city of Salt, the provincial capital of Al-Balqa, located 20 Kilometers from the capital Amman. The pottery that was found shows that the city dates back to the twelfth century . According to the inscriptions and the coins it was inhabited by the Romans, the Byzantines and the Muslims. Salt had many names, among them is “Djador”, in relation with the Djador mountain. Among the Roman ruins is the cemetery, with royal tombs and a rocky tomb. The Islamic Armies reached the city of Salt after the battle of Fahl and Yarmouk, in 635 and 636. Then was built the fortress of Salt on a high spot where the first secondary school in Jordan is located. Many students have been graduated from this school, which was the starting point of education in other towns. As one can notice, the buildings and houses in Salt have their special characteristics in terms of colours and architecture.
