Abstract

The documentary is about Petra, a town discovered in the nineteenth century and located 280 km from Amman. Its inhabitants are the Nabataean descendants who carved the city on a rock. The film introduces the Nabataeans' way of life including facilities, temples, cemetery, caves as well as their philosophy towards life and death. As to the cultural and social dimensions, the film shows the theatre , the amphitheatre and the markets that were meeting places, at that period. Nowadays, tourists can visit Qasr el Bint (the girl's palace ), The triumph arch, temples, churches and buy souvenirs. The Nabataeans are regarded as creative people, and Petra as one of the world's wonders that faces all the challenges.
