Abstract

The village of Dhat Ras is located at the southern end of the karak plateau. It was ruled by the Byzantine in the 2nd century B.C, then the Romans and later the Nabataean. Its remnants still exist until now . Most of its inhabitants work in agriculture .There are many gardens, full of orchards there. The inhabitants moved to the new village of Dhat Ras to benefit from the services available there such as ( schools and health centres...), but they are proud of their old village where they once had good memories. The village has got some archaeological sites dating back to the Umayyad, the Roman and the Byzantine era, among them there is Qasr-Al- Bint which dates back to the Nabataeans' period . Hamam Afra is not very far from Daht Ras village too .
