- Gaza Strip :

- embargo, violence and cruelty of the image impose themselves to reality.

- A new report recently published

- by the United Nations Relief and Work Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA)

- showed that one third of the children from the Gaza Strip controlled by the Hamas

- suffers from great difficulties to read and write

- because of the unfair embargo imposed by the occupation forces,

- and the violence caused by the Hamas militias.

- The report published by the Agency which manages over 200 schools of refugees,

- underlined the students are very late compared to the ones from its other camps

- where students got better results than students from state schools,

- in particular in Lebanon, in Syria and in Jordan.

- The test led by the Agency

- showed that one third of the students from the Gaza strip failed the maths exam.

- As regards to reading and writing, the failing rate was between 30% and 40%.

- The report adds that the cumulative effect of the embargo, violence,

- destitution and school closing years, clearly influenced students’ results.

- The schools in the Gaza Strip suffer from a great lack of classrooms,

- what forced many of them to work over two periods of time.

- Further to the Hamas militias coup d'état,

- embargo imposed by Israel and the decrease of assistance,

- the Agency had to suspend last June its schools construction projects.

- However, the agency announced its intention of hiring 1,500 education assistants,

- to add extra hours in order to reinforce the Arab language and arithmetic

- and to build a new university to train teachers

- to better the students' academic level from the Gaza Strip.
