Abstract

The episode from the program " Between parentheses "is about the concept of culture and cultivated people and how people define the concept of culture . According to Abdessalem EL Attari ,an intellectual is the one who sees things according to his reality , his feelings and his necessities . The one who makes a balance between the self and the general whereas Bechar EL Houroub sees that there is a stereotyped image of the intellectual which belongs to him , to his society. The society shows the intellectual’s role and limits the standards of culture in building up a society. In the age of globalization and Knowledge there is no need in having names such as “intellectual” . The episode deals with questions asked to the guests and to other people to know of the need of educated people to official institutions and how to form a community-based on a group of intellectuals and if the role of intellectuals is restricted in meditation and thinking in a closed room away from reality . The episode also focusses on the relationship between the intellectual and the authority, politics and colonization .
