- Over 3,600 fishing boats, on which hundreds of fishermen work,

- cannot answer anymore the Gazans’ demand of fish

- because of the sea blockade imposed by Israel on the sea of Gaza.

- The fishing zone is confined to a distance of 5 km wide,

- in which fishermen can only find small fish. Always better than nothing.

- Of course that it’s forbidden at a distance of over 5 km, there are Israeli boats.

- People were sent to jail and they still remain there.

- There are between 6 and 7 chases on the sea per day in the Mediterranean Sea of the Gaza Strip.

- The sea blockade that was imposed on the Gaza Strip, along with the unavailability of several fish species

- on an area that overreachs 5 km wide,

- pushed some people to create fish farms, mainly of sea brams, a first one in Gaza,

- using sea water carried through pumps. The operation starts with the unloading phase,

- going through the basins. It ends with production and trade.

- Fishes we raise in Gaza Strip are sea bass and sea bream, they are worldwide known,

- very rare in our seas, it's rare to fish 10 kg of sea bream.

- But in our fish breeding like here, we produce 30 tons of this species,

- and water we use are waters from satted seas.

- Even if, they are economical projects for their owners,

- the Gazans found an appropriate substitute with fish farms, giving the species of fish

- one cannot find on the markets of Gaza, something they have been deprived of for years.

- We are going towards the port where we cannot find the asked for quantity of fish,that is to say that we cannot find what the fishermen bring,

- about 10 to 20 kilos? How can we answer the citizens’ needs? We turned to the buying of fish in those farms

- as they have the same fish as the ones one can find in the sea, and the prices are lower than those from the harbor.

- Even if the setting up of fish farms in the Gaza Strip may answer a need from the Gazans

- as regards unavailable fish on the markets, this is a temporary solution.

- The need remains urgent to levy the sea blockade imposed on the beaches of the Gaza Strip.
