The story of a wave
Collection titleSawt Filastine film
First broadcast date06/25/2012
AbstractThe film deals with the history of Saout Filastine "Palestine Voice" Radio. It was founded in 1936 by the British for military reasons, but the staff turned it into a radio broadcasting the voice of the people. The main staff figures were Ibrahim Touqan and Abdelkrim Al Karmy Abou Salma. Radio Houna El Qods was the second radio in arabic to be destroyed by the Israelis in 1948. Sawt Filastine was established again by Ahmed, in 1965 as the voice of the PLO. Arafat and Nasser agreed to found Sawt El Assifa. After it had stopped, Sawt Filestine resumed broadcasting from Cairo ,Dara'a, Sana'a, Algiers, Baghdad and Beirut before returning home in 1994. Sawt Filestine developed its programmes and became Sawt Al Khabar El Filastini ( Palestinian news) before it was again subject to Israeli aggressions that resulted in the destruction of the broadcasting towers in 2002. However, with the determination of all those who supported it, the voice of Palestine remains high and is heard everywhere.
