- The Balfour Declaration is the main element of the Arab-Palestinian conflict with Israel,

- a conflict that reflected in its very essence and dimensions the reality of the Zionist mouvement

- as a racial movement linking its position and activity to the colonial and imperialist camps and directing its action against the movement of national liberation.

- The promise of Balfour or the cursed promise through which those who did not own the land, gave to those who did not deserve it,

- and this basing on the false argument:

- a land without people for people without land.

- It was through a letter from the British Prime Minister Arthur James Balfour sent to the Jewish Lord Rothschild,

- in which he expressed the support of the British government to the establishment of a national homeland for the Jews in Palestine. The content of the letter was:

- Dear Lord Rothschild,

- I have much pleasure in conveying to you, on behalf of His Majesty’s Government, the following declaration

- of sympathy with Jewish Zionist aspirations which has been submitted to, and approved by, the Cabinet

- His Majesty’s Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people,

- and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object. It being clearly understood that nothing shall be done

- which may prejudice the civil religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine,

- or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.

- I should be grateful if you would bring this declaration to the knowledge of the Zionist Federation.

- Yours, Arthur James Balfour

- This is the declaration that changed the face of the region.

- And what contributed to name it "promise" was probably the fact that it was included in the British Mandate in Palestine from 1922,

- which represented a flagrant violation of international law that explicitly objected to the fact that the UK extends its authority outside its territory and non-British citizens.

- How then could it make the promise of a national homeland for the Jews in Palestine to the detriment of the Palestinian people present in its territory since thousand years?

- Although allusions to the declaration persuaded that the reasons of the promise are more human than political,

- but from a legal side, it promised the Jews a homeland and this in a period when Britain had no legal link with Palestine.

- The declaration marked the start of a British will to support the Zionist project and the creation of a Jewish State in contradiction to the national interests of the Palestinians.

- Great Britain showed during the Mandate in Palestine between 1922 and 1948, its absolute support for the Zionism,

- this movement that quickly managed to create a State inside another one.

- In the beginning of the year 1939,

- Israel arranged all the means to concretize its policy after attracting the attention and the full support of the international community,

- and also displaced large projects and transferred funds to Palestine.

- Thus it formed its army in the terrorist organizations which had committed the most heinous massacres against the Palestinians over the years to push them to leave the territory.

- The Balfour Declaration was not a simple punctual statement, but a real promise that Britain made to the Zionist movement.

- And it was really concretized after the announcement of the creation of the State of Israel on May 15th, 1948:

- a date of the Palestinian Nakba and the exodus of Palestinian people.
