Abstract

Commments on the history the coasts of Gargano ( Puglia) infested with Turkish pirates in the 15th and the century, which led to the building of tracking towers; on the history and the typical architecture of the maritime towns of Vieste and Peschici ( in the province of Foggia); on the tradition of the trabucco, a device made composed of ropes, rods and wood, mounted on the rocks, used in mullet fishing; on the job of the trabucchista; on the Salso lake oasis that appeared in 1960 and, with Lesina and Varano lakes, is part of the national park of Gargano, famous for birdwatching. Discovery of different bird species, including the buzzard, the crane, the stork and the shaveling.
