Calabria is rich of cultural diversity where traditions and linguistic peculiarities are still strongly felt nowadays. History links the legend of Ulysses to Calabria. Croton, a city founded by Croton, hosted Pythagoras. At Capo Colonna, the Black Vergin is venerated. The Capo Rizzuto reserve includes the coast and the sea next to the homonymous headland. The region is of historical interest, testified by the Greek vestiges and the fortified site of Castella. The region is also important from the natural point of view : hoopoes, bee-eaters and warblers are among the birds present in this area. The seabeds rich in posidonia, shelter hog fish, spiny lobsters and morays.Type
