Abstract

Documentary devoted to the production of organic beans and peas in the region of Barcellona, in Sicily. Organic agriculture follows strict rules which farmers must comply with so that their crop can obtain the label of organic products: the prohibition to use chemicals, a constant analysis of the field, the use of crop rotation and integrated fight agaist pest. Animal manure is used as the unique fertilizer. The production process is followed by commissioners and controlers who check the ready for sale product to ensure, through laboratory tests, that the values of organic production are met.
