Art reviewer Philippe Daverio presents some great ancient Italian libraries : the Malatestiana of Cesena, the State Archive of Lucca, the Ambrosiana in Milan, the Laurentiana in Florence, the Library Braidense in Milan and the Library Leopardi in Recanati - established by the father of the poet Giacomo Leopardi. Photographs of the interiors of some ancient European libraries. The bibliophile Carlo Bertelli talks about the origins of the book back in time and shows the interiors of the Leopardi Library. Daverio talks about the development of libraries.
