Abstract

“Stella del Sud” invites us to the discovery of Cairo. We visit the city through many images and city landscapes among which the feluccas on Nile, the bastion built by Saladin, the style and Turkish shapes of the Mohammed Ali’s mosque. The tour continues with the visit of the Coptic Cairo, its streets, churches and a cemetery which hosts immigrants. The comment evokes the history of Mamluks, slaves who have been able to elevate themselves to become masters of Egypt. Zoheir Garranah, the Egyptian minister of tourism, is interviewed about the beauties of the city. A citizen evokes the Coptic Cairo area.
