Abstract

The documentary focuses on the naturalistic beauties and the historical and artistic heritage of the area around Loreto Apruntino (Abruzzi), where a high quality oil is produced. The video shows aerial views of the village and the architecture of the medieval district. Visiting the oil museum, we discover some ancient machines used to press and crush the olives. A cutler, Antonio Rossi, and a blacksmith are working in their workshops. The tour continues with the visit of two churches. “Santa Maria in Piano” houses XV century frescoes about the life of S. Thomas Aquinas. In “Santa Maria del Lago”, we can admire the luxurious pulpit on columns with ambo, made in 1159 by Nicodemus from Guardiagrele. A woman explains how the “misticanza coi fagioli”, a typical dish of Abruzzi, is made.
