Documentary about Maretimo Island, located off Sicily, in the province of Trapani. This wild and mountainous island, the most remote of the Egadi islands, has beautiful scenery and numerous caves with transparent sea water. It was known in antiquity as the "Hiera nesos", Ancient Greek "sacred island". Since the Phoenicians, it was populated by various peoples of the Mediterranean. Emilio Cecchi made of the island the true Ithaca and the end point of the voyage of Ulysses. Visit the town and its port. The island is facing the sea and fishing is the main activity of the inhabitants. Visit the museum of maritime traditions and escape to the land in the company of tourists visiting the area on donkeys.Type
