Abstract

.Documentary on the history and traditions of the Albanian community of Civita, in the province of Cosenza, in Calabria. The village lies in the mountainous belt of the Pollino National Park. Calabria was a haven for Albanian communities fleeing their country from the late fifteenth century, after the annexation of Albania by the Ottoman Empire, despite a long and epic resistance led by Skanderbeg (1405 - 1468). The community cultivates its traditions and its dialect, the Arbërisht, taught in school. The festive costumes and traditional songs are still alive, especially for the festival of Easter Tuesday.
