Abstract

Documentary featuring a played reconstruction of the life of Saint Francis of Assisi. Born into a wealthy merchant family in Assisi, Francis led a dissolute life and took part into the battles of the region. In 1202 he was taken prisoner and remained one year in jail in Perugia. His encounter with the leper and his Revelation led him to reject his environment and to live among the poor. The documentary focuses on his visit to Damietta, in Egypt, where he met Sultan Al-Kamil and his friendship with Cristiana di Paride.
