Abstract

Claudia Pregno presents Sommatino a city in Sicily, and its famous sulfur mine, now closed. Interview with a former miner, Salvatore Pecoraro, who started work there in 1961. He testifies of the great mining activity of those years and the difficult life of the inhabitants of Sommatino. The program continues with a visit to the museum "solfare". Photographs and archival footage illustrating the activity of miners working in the extraction of sulfur.
