- Good afternoo everyone, from San Severino Marche.

- I am in the province of Macerata, in a suggestive village, with a rich culture, history and art, but also into an enchanting and varied landscape.

- When you arrive in San Severino, you can distinguish the castel from fra away, the high town with its towers and also the oldest core built on Monte Nero.

- This cloister of the old dome is meditative and full of charms, with a double row of arches and an irregular shape, a trapezium.

- After all, it was not easy to build it in a place as inaccessible as the summit of the mount, where it has been located for over a millennium.

- Going down the small streets in the center of the town of San Severino we reach Palazzo Servanzi Confidati, where a major event is taking place:

- the first exhibition about baroque art in the Marche, a region that may be better known for its beauties of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

- There are about 90 works that highlight all the baroque wonders of the Marche, a style which, here, doesn’t need surprising with excesses.

- Professor, what are the features of the baroque art of the Marche?

- Roman artists reduce for the sponsors of the Marche some over dramatic aspects to be found in the Roman works.

- Here we have Bernini’s sculptures and Gaulli’s paintings,

- but as they work for sponsors very different from the great noble families of Rome, they use dimmer shades.

- And that turns the baroque art of the Marche into the expression of a wittier culture as regards the dramatic aspect of the Roman baroque art.

- It is possible to visit the exhibition up to December 12th, or maybe more?

- We are working to enlarge it during the festive season and up to the successive time of the Epiphany.

- Cooking, in baroque time, was also rich and luxurious, very colorful, it smelt of spices, of game.

- And today it is possible, here in San Severino, to discover those old flavors.

- Exactly, Monica. Up to December 12th, it is possible to associate the suggestions of painting and architecture to the flavors of baroque cuisine,

- that was rediscovered by 4 restaurants for the exibition. And here we have an example of a typically baroque menu, with very strong flavors, very special ones.

- For instance, the basis for the omelette first course is truffles. Then, we have the Queen’s soup, that combines the sweet and sour flavor of the pomegranate tree

- with almonds, pistachios and stock, 2 types of stocks, one made of meat and one made with partridge bones.

- And even the mutton roast to end with meringues, that seems either typically baroque suggestions, born at random at this time.

- So, to associate the sight of painting and architecture to those of the flavors of baroque cooking, unusual flavors that were rediscovered for the exhibition.

- It is then possible to taste all this up to December 12th.

- And so, under the sign of those baroques fragrances, I wave goodbye to San Severino.
