Abstract

Assa is a dark stoned old ksar, founded in the 12th century by the Saint conqueror Sidi Yazza ou Idha . The tomb of the precursory marabout Sidi Yazza ou Idha is always worshipped by the Oasis' inhabitants; Berbers and Harratins . Today, in the old ruined ksar, hundreds of koubhas ( domes) are still well- preserved.These koubhas show the tombs of 366 saints who have lived and taught in the zawiya for almost a millennium .
