Abstract

The old Moroccan cities have almost all known civilizations dating back to antiquity. Pliny the Elder, who died in year 79 , is designated by historians as the earliest author to mention the existence of the city of Tamuda (Tetouan). His account describes the city linked to the Mediterranean through a port of which traces no longer exist. The excavations have confirmed the high standard of development of this city in the first and second century . 10 km from Tetouan, the cave of Kahf Taht al Ghar is another site showing of ancient settlements in the region. In 1956, the Spanish researcher and archaeologist Luis Miguel De Tarad excavated and confirmed the presence of man in the cave, at least 10,000 years ago .
