Abstract

Amouddou's journey through the oases of the Draa to discover the city of the two mountains: Zagora. Despite the steps taken towards modernism, the city has not yet arrived to dispose of its architectural roots represented by the Kasbahs and ksours, from which some local artistic expressions draw their themes. This episode evokes the political and social role the ksours played for the people of the Draa's oases before the French protectorate. Zagora used to be the center of the largest Jewish community in the Draa Valley.
