Abstract

"The city of two mountains", " the City of the Stone" or "Tazagourt" are all names assigned to the same place: the town of Zagora, the capital of Draa and of date palms, symbol of strength, patience and grandeur. Crossroads of civilizations and a meeting place for trade caravans, the city is also renowned for its skills in the skilled crafts and science, and for being the home of great scholars. Unfortunately, its springs have dried up and its palm groves have been ravaged by the terrible Bayoud disease which has caused the loss of its main economic resource. The desire and ambition of its inhabitants, however, have allowed Zagora to overcome difficulties and develop its local economy.
