Abstract

The city of Ouarzazate is a city in southern Morocco that is known for being the gateway of the desert. It is also one of Morocco's most popular sites for filmmakers. Works which have been partly or entirely filmed there are : Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Alexander the Great, Asterix and Cleopatra, The Mummy, Kingdom of Heaven, Babel etc. This film industry represents important assets for the region and its inhabitants, but unfortunately, this activity is monopolized by intermediaries that prevent equitable redistribution.
