The establishment of the city of Ouajda is attributed to the leader Maghraoui Ziri Ibn Atiyya (in the year 384 H/ 994 AD). He protected the city by building high walls around it with gateways which were controlled by guards who used to open and close them. Ouajda has always been influenced by its borders throughout its history which goes beyond a thousand years. Among its monuments, Bab El Gharbi (western door), an archaeological gateway overlooking Oujda’s yard, and Bab Sidi Abdelwahab, an archaelogical gateway overlooking Abdelwahab’s yard.Type
