- 55 kilometers away from the town of Oujda and in the heart of the mounts of Bani Yaznassen, characterized by their thick forests

- and their sweet climate. The site of Bani Yezassen is important from the point of view of biology and ecology,

- it spreads over about 7,000 hectares constituted by different types of trees and plants.

- Various species of birds and archeological sites

- testify of the antiquity of human settlement in this region.

- This site has a huge biodiversity, with its forest components that are represented in the forests of juniper trees

- and oak trees. Over 13% of plants belong to this site

- and are not to be found anywhere else.

- As regards animals, they do not have a lesser importance than plants do.

- The species of Barbary sheep, extinguished in the region since the 80s of the past century,

- came back to live in Tafougalt in a reserve spreading over 200 hectares.

- It is one of the major operations that were realized in the frame of the programme of the High Commissioner for Water, Forest

- and Desertification Control in Berkane, to rehabilitate the ecological site of Bani Yezassen.

- The first objective is to make people discover the biodiversity of the reserve of Beni Yezassen

- and to guide visitors to enter the reserve of Beni Yezassen,

- to make visitors sensitive to the preservation and protection of natural resources and biodiversity of Tafougalte region.

- In order to increase the vitality of animals and to avoid them fighting,

- we enlarged the surface of the reserve up to 200 hectares, with a total cost that was estimated to 660,000 dirham,

- there are now 72 Barbary sheep in the reserve.

- This site constitutes, thanks to its media coverage, an opportunity for the inhabitants, the visitors and the searchers

- to appreciate closely the beauty of natural landscapes, along with the touristic products

- of the region that welcomes all year long thousands of visitors

- coming from every corner of Morocco and abroad.
