- The town of Boujdour, in the other towns of Western Sahara, is put upside down through the issue of water,

- an issue that remained as the major obstacle for the stability in life.

- In front of the lack of water natural resources in the province of Boujdrour,

- the National Office of Drinking Water opted for

- the desalination of sea water, buying one first desalination station in 1977.

- It answered the population’s needs in matter of drinking water up to the beginning of the 90s.

- Little ago, there was a deficit in the distribution of drinking water.

- That is why the office worked, over two phases, on the reinforcement program in the production of desalination.

- An emergency phase into which they added a fourth unit

- that would allow the production of 300 m3 per day with a cost of 3 million dirham.

- Since 1995, and taking into account urban expansion and demographic development undergone by the town of Boujdour,

- the National Office for Drinking Water set an integrated project,

- including a new station of desalination,

- the production of which reaches 800 m³ per day,

- in order to reduce the deficit of drinking water that is at the disposal of the people of Boujdour.

- Now, water is accessible to us. We need no more fetching it in basins,

- we have water day and night for those willing to farm and for those who want to do their laundry.

- We thank God for that, praise and thank to God.

- It is convenient to remark that sea water desalination is submitted to technologies that have a high cost.

- The production of one square meter reaches about 100 dirham,

- while the citizens that benefit from it pay less than 3 dirham per cubic meter, in the first social category.
