Abstract

A report on an article published by the French Academy of sciences about an unprecedented discovery in botany. This happened in the Atlas mountains, not far from the city of Tiznit, where a rare tree was discovered : the dragon tree, locally called "Ajkal" or "brothers blood tree". "This tree belongs to the family of the lily, it secretes a sticky substance used for the manufacturing of colors and in medical and industrial fields", said Salah el Kaid, engineer at the Water and forests department, and Abdemalek Ben Abid, researcher at the National School of Forestry of Salé.
