During the period between the 17th century and the early 20th century, Morocco adopted a policy of communication with other countries, especially the European ones, with which it had treaties and conventions. This episode deals with the personalities who represented Morocco in ambassies, either as diplomats or Ambassadors. Ibn Othman el Meknassi is considered as the founder of the Moroccan diplomatic mechanism. He wrote a book on diplomacy, after he had been appointed by the Sultan Mohamed ben Abdelaziz ( 1757 - 1790 ) to lead the negotiations with Spain, Malta, and the Kingdom of Naples, for the liberation of the Moroccan prisoners.Type
