Abstract

The episode deals with archaeological research development in Morocco. Experts divided it into three periods : the prehistoric civilization, the pre-islamic civilization and the Islamic civilization. The first text concerning the prehistoric period dates back to 1875. As to the civilizations which preceded the Islamic period : the Phoenician civilization, the Byzantine civilization, the Roman and finally the Islamic civilizations, the archaeological research was able to locate the settlement site of each of them. Such as Lixus, Challa, Walili (Volubilis), etc...
