Abstract

Mahmoud Derwish (March 13, 1941 - August 19, 2008), is one of the most outstanding Palestinian and Arab poets whose names are linked to the Palestinian revolution poetry. Derwish contributed to the development of modern arab poetry by introducing symbolism. In his poetry love for the homeland is mixed with love for a woman. He also wrote the Declaration of the Palestinian state, proclaimed in Algiers in 1988. In one of his visits to Morocco in the 70's, he was interviewed by Mustapha El Kabbadj on the Palestinian issue and on his poetry. The interview is permeated by readings of Derwish's poems as well as pictures of his collection of poems.
