The fishery sector and its related activities are among the essential supports of the Moroccan economy. More than 850 species of fish live in the Moroccan Atlantic and Mediterranean shores that reach 3500 km. The sector also employs over 25% of the manpower in Morocco. In addition to the agreement with the E.U to allow European fishing boats in its waters, Morocco launched the Halieutis plan that aims to develop the fisheries sector . The Minister of Agriculture, Mr Aziz Akhnouche, explains how the Halieutis plan contributed to rehabilitate the ports, create fishers' villages and codify the fishing process to preserve these resources.Type
