Abstract

The family regrouping was a decisive issue in changing the path of the Moroccan immigration to Europe. The family migration came relatively late compared with the beginning of the labour one. The family reunification started in 1974, after the recognition of the immigrants right to bring their families. This period was marked by the immigration of Moroccan women to join their husbands in societies totally different from theirs. The episode deals with these women vis-a-vis the labour market, the problems faced by Moroccan immigrant families and the breakdown some of them are facing.
