Abstract

Boughanim is a typical folklore of the High Atlas tribes in the province of Azilal, which includes three main tribes Ait Boukemaza, Ait Bellal and Ait Abbas, each one has its own band. The Ait Abbas Ahawash dance differs from other Ahawash dances; it relies on the flute and the lute and is performed in group. The dancers' movements differ according to the occasion: wedding, religious or national event and festivals. The songs of the Ait Abbas band are mainly about traditions, social and humanitarian issues.
