Abstract

The traditional mat is made of palm fronds, alfa and rush; a plant that grows in bogs. Mats are used for furnishing and covering walls and floors in houses and mosques. Craftsmen also use the same material to make several useful and decorative items such hats and hand fans. These natural products attract tunisians and tourists. Despite the popularity of these products among tunisians and tourists, young people are reluctant to this craft because it requires patience, physical efforts and skills.
