Coral is one of the most famous stones, although not part of the precious stones. Its colors vary from white to pink or dark red, the latter two being the most popular colors. There is also black coral that comes from a dark organic matter in the waters of the Pacific Ocean. The rarest coral is the blood red coral that is located on the Tunisian coast and the Mediterranean countries. With fishing development, coral work develops in the region of Tabarka, northwest, and on the Tunisian coast. Young people in particular are attracted by the simplicity of its forms and the prices. Artisans of the profession regret that there is not more craftsmen in the manufacture of coral jewelry, as well as the lack of innovation in this field. Coral remains a form of Tunisian heritage for both tourists and Tunisians.Type
