In the city of Sfax, in Southern Tunisia, there is a firm specialized in tin which is called 'Al kasadria'(tin factory) This traditional craft is endangered because it is linked to a disappearing copper industry. In the early nineteenth century ,Tunisian families were keen to equip their homes with copper utensils and antiques. These traditions are perpetuated in some families in large cities, punctuated by the seasons and festivals. Indeed, with the approach of the month of Ramadan or Eid El Adha, markets redouble activity and propose stalls filled with cooking utensils of all kinds. However, because of the dangers of handling chemicals and drudgery, few young people today are attracted to this profession, especially as few clients can afford the high cost of copper saucepans and tin.Type
