Additional information

The village of Zawiet Lemkayez is located on the border of the town of Al-Houwaria, between Manzil Tmim and Taksala and close to Sidi Daoud harbor. It hosts about 23,000 inhabitants. According to one of the historians, the name of origin of the village is Leksar Labyed ("the white castle"); it then turned into Zawièt Lamkayez in respect to Wali Sidi Ahmed Lamkayez who settled there to teach jurisprudence and religious sciences in the Zaouia.
