Abstract

“The eye listens” is a black and white documentary about the cultural and leisure activities of the town of Tabarka. It also takes us to one of the Ramadan parties in Bab Souika in the capital. Tabarka Festival and summer campings: testimonies on the cultural activity in Tabarka. -Dance workshops: the tourist learn Tunisian dancing. -What goes on behind the scene of the preparation of the Takarba Festival. -A Ramadan evening in Bab Soukia, in the capital. A walk in the traditional souks. An exhibition of Ramadan pastries (zlabiyya, mkhareq, debla, makroud, boza). -An evening of music and Tunisian and Egyptian dances. -Night atmosphere of the Ramadan in the cafés. -Arabic evenings from Egypt. Tunisian religious songs accompanied by popular songs. -The Tunisian meals of the Ramadan: ad-der and as-sehleb. -The occupation of boutbila. An occupation that is transmitted from father to son, that consists in announcing the time of the shour during the Ramadan, singing and hitting a drum. This occupation disappeared through time, considered by some as a night nuisance.
