Abstract

This edition of the documentary "Houses and ideas" presents extracts and footage of one of the monuments of the old town: "Dziri’s house". Located in Court Street, in the old town, it housed several civilizations and became the House of Poetry, in 1933. This documentary presents a historical overview of the house and shows the design of the main lodge that was built according to the traditional style of the North African architecture characterized by flower ornaments, prestigious shapes and sophisticated china sculptures. The Second Congress of the Destour Party took place in this house. It is in this very same place that many patriots died during the war of liberation led by the leader Lahbib Bourguiba.
