- many faces mourn, until they resemble, a face coming ceaselessly, coming up to maturity.

- The calm comes after the storm

- Mohammed Bouazizi was very nice, very well educated, a hard worker, he spent all his time working, he ate only with what he earned.

- The immolation of Mohammed Bouazizi was the straw that broke the camel's back.

- We passed the barrier of fear.

- I'm 35, but I feel that I am free only for 8 months.

- Sfax woke up, then Kasserine and Tataouine, Ben Gardane and finally Tunis on the 14th.

- Music

- A moment changed the life of a young Tunisian who revolted as he could not stand repression and indifference. The people hastened to support him,

- and the regime turned to the people, with haste, and on one side insignificant reforms and ministerial visits without any interest, and on the other the terrible repression.

- It is at this point that citizens started to protest. Before, the political movement concerned unionists and men of law.

- Officials of trade unions in all sectors, education, health, and so on

- met on December the 18th to hold a peaceful protest,

- but we were surprised by the massive presence of security forces and repression. We asked for the removal of the repressive embargo over the town,

- we ended up stuck in our centre, we tried to do the same thing in Sidi Bouzid on Sunday, but without success.

- On the first day, protests were held in front of the wilaya headquarters. Then on the 18th security reinforcements arrived in Sidi Bouzid, from everywhere.

- The people were united,

- when they wanted to redo a march to the province headquarters, clashes took place.

- After that, I realized that people did not fear the massive presence of security forces.

- Claims have been gradually increasing. To judge a communal agent or the wali that was not concerned about the region was no longer enough.

- Slogans dealt with the source of problems: unemployment and the inequitable distribution of wealth.

- The message struck a chord. We were not the only ones affected by the problems of the region or the immolation of Bouazizi.

- All citizens felt that they were involved.

- The problem of unemployment, in each family there are 4-5 unemployed

- and among them some are college graduates.

- They did not have enough to eat, so how not to go out to protest?

- It was decided that the unions should organize movements in all local offices, to soothe the tension in Sidi Bouzid.

- On December the 20th, the cities of Regueb, Meknassy and Sid Bouzid organized peaceful demonstrations, no more, no less.

- Despite the media blackout on the events of Sidi Bouzid, the towns and surrounding villages have fully received the message.

- The square in the centre of the city of Regueb has witnessed the beginning of an epic.

- We went out, there were 15 teachers and some citizens, we arrived at the main square of Regueb and then there were about a thousand of demonstrators.

- Gatherings continued daily until the 24th.

- People were united, there were the unemployed, the graduate and the worker. We were surprised by the police response:

- 12 buses from all corners of the republic. They came in a small town of 7,000 inhabitants, and 75,000 people in the region.

- We understood that they wanted to stifle the protests as it was the case in Redeyef.

- They gathered on this square.

- Everyone resisted in this area, even women and children.

- I thank the students and teachers, everyone supported.

- Town of Regueb

- Events continued until January the 9th. The most important event took place that day:

- 5 martyrs fell in the town of Regueb, during the afternoon, between noon and 4 p.m.

- In the blink of an eye things got worse and the city began a six-day general strike.

- Town of Regueb, January the 9th, 2011.

- Bread was sent to us from Sfax, Meknassy, Ben Ali, El Mazouna and Sidi Bouzid, while we carried on civil disobedience. On the 14th, after 3 days, authorities decided to stop this disobedience

- and to apprehend all resistants of Regueb. Then our brothers in Sfax began a demonstration, allowing us to escape from repression.

- Music

- The town of Menzel Bouziane has responded to the call, in its turn. These streets have seen the most violent confrontations. The most violent one occurred on Friday the 24th of December, following the peaceful march.

- Protests started exactly on the 19th in Menzel Bouziane. Everything seemed quiet during the day, there were tags on the walls, leaflets distributions

- and ads that called for gathering.

- Protests multiplied until the arrival of security reinforcements.

- Authorities’ reinforcements were huge, and they were here to walk on the honour of Menzel Bouziane during the protests.

- This has led us to confront them with all our might, unarmed, to defend our dignity, our freedom and our honour.

- Protests continued until December the 24th, and then happened something decisive in Menzel Bouziane. On that day, at 3 p.m.

- the first martyr of the revolution fell, his name was Mohammed Laamari, he was a professor of physics. Two or three bullets in the chest took his life.

- He got a good education, he was a college graduate. He passed by on Tuesday to get his CAPES exam in Sidi Bouzid. He died on Friday.

- I have been told about his wound, so I rushed to the hospital to see him. The bullet had passed through his chest.

- Thank doctors across the country for their hard work, they did everything they can to save my son.

- Unimaginable reinforcements arrived on that day, Bouziane remained under siege for 8 days.

- The street was completely empty. There were about 2,000 police officers just in this city.

- Music

- Until the day the defeated president gave his speech. A quarter of an hour later, all the inhabitants of Bouziane went out to show their displeasure about this speech

- and to let know that no one could stop them. Until January the 14th,

- people have spent nights in front of the town hall, everything was closed until the fall of the dictator.

- Events of Menzel Bouziane are the turning point that led to the spread of the revolution.

- With the rise in power of the repressive apparatus resistance hardened and the challenge got bigger. The sparkle reached the towns of the province:

- Djelma Ben Aoun, El Mazouna, Bir El Hafey and Meknassy.

- The most important day of demonstrations was December the 24th, the police headquarters siege took place, led by a group of trade unionists and intellectuals.

- Claims were clear: the withdrawal of the police from Meknassy

- and the launch of an investigation about the assault of Professor Issam Ghabi.

- The police tried to gain time until the arrival of reinforcements.

- Demonstrators were physically assaulted, which led to their dispersion. Some protesters left to stop reinforcements arriving from the outside.

- This square has seen fierce battles against the police, who used tear gas,

- causing suffocation of many people, especially young people.

- The police had closed all passages, and all individuals arrested were tortured.

- A great confrontation in Meknassy made several injured people, I have been injured myself and I passed 20 days in hospital.

- Young people resisted, they confronted repressive forces at night,

- and daily, during the day, marches were held.

- Our demands were political, the most important one was the fall of the regime,

- our region was the first to claim it.

- We were convinced that this regime of oppression and tyranny was weak and that he would fall.

- We did not know when, but we knew it would happen soon,

- especially after the speech of the 13th, we realized the regime was shaky and that it was coming to an end.

- Meanwhile, protests against the regime reached the last wilaya. Its lies and crimes in Thala and Kasserine were unveiled.

- Towns and villages, from north to south and from east to west, merged. The people triumphed. The call was simple:
