Abstract

This video is an historical documentary based on letters written by Catalan Republican refugees living in France between 1939 and 1945. The letters most of which come from the Basque-Catalan ANC Archives, offer a look at the paths taken by anonymous exiles: concentration camps, refugee centers, Companies of Spanish Workers, Foreign Workers Groups (under the Vichy regime), TODT engineering works (under German occupation), Obligatory Work Service (in Germany), the Resistance and, finally, the Liberation. None of the identities of the exiles is revealed. The only testimonials in the documentary are by people whose lives are still affected by these events.
