Abstract

In Mataro, in Barcelona province, a Department of Imported Tropical Diseases has been set up in a hospital: Sant Jaume y Santa Magdalena, due to the rise in these diseases, given the increasing numbers of Africans arriving here to work. Lluis Fernandez, working in this Department, and Josep. M Teniente, the director of the hospital, are interviewed and explain the increase of these tropical deseases.
