Abstract

This second episode in the series “Building Cities” is on Girona, a city that was built with stone, giving it its distinct appearance. The documentary tries to find out why so many old buildings from the past have survived, while the city streets have changed so radically in recent decades. Several parts of the city are presented (monuments, landscapes, bridges...) and we can observe the characteristics that make Girona is an attractive and dynamic place, economically and culturally speaking. The urban transformations, conserving the traces of the past, ensure the inhabitants of Girona recover their self- confidence.
