Abstract

The history of Catalonia is in part a race towards urbanization. Major changes have been made in urban spaces. The program shows how the inhabitants of each city feel about these changes and sets the urbanization, the modernisation of these cities back in its Roman, Medieval and Modern inheritances. "Stories of Catalonia" is a documentary series on the history of everyday life with each episode focusing on a different subject. The main actors are not kings or politicians but ordinary people who once lived in Catalonia and who serve to illustrate what daily life was like years ago. Each episode covers three or four stories set in different times to help viewers understand the world in which our ancestors lived. The series presenter and researcher takes viewers on a trip back in time. The narrative and the dramatic reconstruction using actors border on fiction, but the stories themselves are true ones which have been rigorously documented.
