Abstract

It's a broadcast of the “Retable of the Passion”, based on the Moixiganga of Lleida (popular dances) and performed by the Esbart Marboleny (traditional culture and dance group) of Les Preses. The choreography is by Manuel Cubeles. The music was written by Pilar López-Arcos for a cobla orchestra and is rooted in the traditional music of the Moixiganga of Lleida and Gregorian chant from the liturgical cycle of the Passion and Easter. The costumes were designed by Gina Cubeles, and based on models from Catalan Gothic paintings, such as the miniatures found in the Red Book.
