The Aufid abyss or Ouled Lyach is located in the region of Taza, downstream of a river, part of the watershed of Oued Melouia, over 150m deep. The pit is composed of calcites limestone rocks that originated in different geological circumstances. Discovered in 1934, the Aufid Abyss was identified and explored for the first time by a team of French cavers. The cave that seems bottomless once used to be a home for many cave insects. After this visit, the expedition takes a different track towards Cahf Labyad (White Cave), 5 meters high, which still keeps its beauty and purity over the years.Type
