The PBC is the national broadcasting institution of the Palestinian people, and expresses both its national identity and its aspirations. It is thus the voice of the Palestinians, and a projection of their social, political and intellectual image.

The reason for our participation in the Med-Mem project is that we are very aware of the importance of audiovisual archives. This cultural heritage of mankind constitutes the historic memory of peoples, asserts their rights, stimulates their sense of national identity and helps them to appropriate their heritage.

Through our selections, we have tried to relate Palestinian history from various points of view. We have concentrated on cultural aspects such as music, folklore, traditions, handicrafts and the architectural heritage constituted by the various religious sites, both Christian and Muslim. We have also selected items which focus on issues relating to women and childhood, and on the everyday suffering of the Palestinian people, caused by the Israeli occupation and its effects on our land.

We hope that this great experiment will enable us to find out more about each other, and promote greater knowledge, openness and tolerance. We want the Med-Mem project to enable us to preserve our audiovisual memory so that subsequent generations will be able to discover it in the future.
