Abstract

Through the High Atlas and its beautiful scenery, the “Road of the thousand Casbahs” will lead you into valleys and regions with undeniable Saharan atmosphere. Built in Cobwork, the kasbahs are grouped in the same village to from a Ksar (plural : Ksour). True architectural Jewels, the Casbahs take the color of their homeland which changes from tan to red, making them different from each other. The Dads and Todgha gorges offer the most beautiful samples of this remarkable earth architecture. In this purely desert setting, there is the palm field of Skoura, a real haven of peace which offers the travellers shelter and protection from the sun rays in the shade of its palm trees and olive trees.
